Advice for Parents from other parents who have successfully walked their children through this confusion

Repair your relationship with your child; spend one-on-one time doing things your child likes – try not to engage in power struggles about gender with your child
Limit unsupervised internet (especially chatrooms like discord and social media) and take the smart phone away if you can – this is easier with younger teens and pre-teens
Keep them away from in person and online trans influencers or friends – this may involve changing school environments
Get them involved in in-person activities they are interested in, especially those that are outside in nature and involve exercise
If you get counseling for your child, be sure it is a non-affirming therapist that will focus on the co-occurring issues (anxiety, depression, social skills, previous trauma, low self-esteem, etc.) and not focus on the gender identity
YOU know your child best. What works for one child may not be the best course of action for another child

This is a key resource for parents lead by an expert in ROGD, Sasha Ayad. Her approach is very compassionate and loving and gives advice and videos to parents who join her forum. Highly recommend this is the first step parents take. She hosts Q&A sessions for parents and has several different payment tiers. I would have paid triple the amount she charges for the information I received. She also has some free videos on youtube where you can preview her work. Find out more.

Parents of Rapid Onset Gender Dysphoria

Excellent confidential US based support groups set up by state. Someone will set up a phone call to vet you and then you will be invited to monthly zoom meetings and have access to other parents who are walking their children through this confusion without medically transitioning their children.
